Types of Induction and Electric Cooktops.
Which type of cooktop is right for your needs? All have a glass ceramic cooking surface, and unlike gas, are electric powered. Here's a look at how each stands out:
Induction cooktops only generate heat where it is needed – directly on the base of the pan. This improves energy efficiency, safety and allows for faster cooking. It only works with magnetic cookware, such as a stainless steel pot or pan.
Electric: classic and easy to use
Easy to use and compatible with all kinds of pots and pans, the electric cooktop is a classic choice. Ceramic cooktops heat the glass on the cooktop, which then warms the base of the pan. Therefore, the surface remains hot to the touch after switching off the appliance.
Venting: absorbs odours while you cook
Offers greater freedom and flexibility in creating your dream kitchen, as it combines the latest technology of induction cooktops and rangehoods, into one appliance. The requires additional installation space below the worktop.
Which power level to use when frying? Our induction cooktops with PerfectFry know the answer. The PerfectFry sensor monitors the pan’s temperature and adjust the temperature as needed. Choose from five predefined temperature levels and look forward to delicious results each time.
Too hot and your porridge might burn or pasta water boil over. The PerfectCook sensor on our induction hobs monitors the pot's temperature, adjusting it automatically as needed to prevent overcooking, scorching and boiling over.
Absorbs unpleasant odours.
Automatically regulates the extraction level.
Our venting cooktops have built-in ventilation, meaning no need for a rangehood – perfect for an island bench. The PerfectAir sensor monitors the air and automatically adapts the power level to suit the steam and odours. It uses the lowest extraction level to keep the noise level at a minimum. So you can focus your efforts on cooking.
Flexible layout.
The right number of zones for your needs.
For maximum cooking flexibility, FlexInduction models let you merge two or more cooking zones to fit a variety of cooking vessels – small and large, rectangular and round. For some cooking flexibility, CombiZone cooktops contain two cooking zones that can be combined to create one larger one.
Smart control.
Use your hob the clever way.
Easily control your Wi-Fi-synced hood and hob with a touch thanks to Auto Control. For instance, you can programme your hood to turn on the fan and light when the hob is switched on, or to run for 20 minutes after the hob is switched off. This way you can concentrate on getting food on the table instead of fiddling with your hood.
Good to know: Pair a compatible hob with the Home Connect app to check on your smartphone from anywhere if the hob is switched off.
Operate with a touch.
Effortless and elegant touch controls.
Opt for a model with touch controls for an elegant look and intuitive operation. If you want to maximise your cooking experience, opt for an induction or venting model with DirectSelect Premium. On the large, 30 cm-wide touch panel, simply select the desired cooking zones, power level and features, such as Power Boost, with a touch. The screen disappears when you turn off the hob.
Know this before you buy.
Cooking zones.
Cooktops with combinable cooking zones provide maximum flexibility and versatility. It can even accommodate large roasting pans.
Design.
Flush mounted with the worktop, frameless or with a frame, choose the design that fits your aesthetics and kitchen specifications.
Cookware.
If you choose an induction model, ensure you have compatible pots and pans. Does a magnet stick to a pan's bottom? Great, it'll work.
Really happy with this cooktop. Heats up super fast, way better than our old gas one. Cleaning is a breeze—just a quick wipe, and it's done. Installation was easy enough, fit straight into our existing kitchen bench. The 80 cm width is just right—not too big, but gives that extra space over a 60 cm model. The extra-large burner is a nice bonus and not something you see often.
All in all, a great buy. Would definitely recommend!
This has been a significant upgrade from a ceramic resistive cooktop. Just as easy to clean and much more powerful when for example heating up a big pot of water. Nice clean, modern lines. UI takes a bit to get used to but mostly just because it's much more feature packed than a simple 0-10 twist knob. Highly recommend
We replaced our old gas cooktop with this induction cooktop. We are very happy with it. It is very intuitive, it heats up food pretty fast and generally makes cooking a lot easier and convenient.
